DTM RC Lab Proving Grounds

The DTM RC Lab Proving Grounds is where our testing becomes evidence.

Before we recommend an upgrade, we want to know what actually changed — not what the packaging says should change.

Whenever practical, we test using the same rig, the same conditions and the same course line before and after a modification.

Same rig. Same course. One change at a time.

The goal is not to make every RC look capable. The Proving Grounds are designed to expose strengths, weaknesses, tradeoffs and failure points under repeatable conditions.

What We Test

Depending on the product or setup, testing may include:

  • traction and climbing
  • steering and precise wheel placement
  • clearance and breakover
  • suspension control and articulation
  • downhill stability
  • technical line choice
  • before-and-after upgrade comparisons
  • repeated attempts for consistency
  • failures, diagnosis and re-testing

Proving Grounds Features

Widow Falls
A waterfall line used for traction, climbing and controlled placement.

Split Rock Canyon
A tight V-shaped rock chute that tests positioning, clearance and line choice.

Rockslide Run
A technical crawl above Split Rock Canyon used for climbing, placement and repeatability.

Cabin Ridge
An elevated ridge route used for technical driving and destination-style course testing.

Link Trap
A bridge and clearance feature that puts links, underbody clearance and wheel placement to work.

Moose Mountain
An established climb and summit feature used when the test calls for it.

Rocky Point
Technical rock terrain used for downhill control, stability and precise placement.

No single obstacle determines whether a product is good or bad. We choose the feature — or combination of features — that best tests what we are trying to learn.

Failures stay in the evidence. If something breaks, slips, binds or simply does not perform as expected, we inspect it, diagnose the problem, correct it when possible and test again.

At the end of the day, every test comes back to one question:
